Future Plans

The Kumaran Asan Institute of Culture is in the phase of fast development. The renovation of the Institute got a head start with the announcement of a development project by the Government of Kerala in 1995. The Rs.35 crores project proposes a development programme in around 180 acres of land.

As part of the project a spacious administration block is in the making. The renowned sculptor Kanayi Kunhiraman is in charge of the artistic and aesthetic side of the construction work. His sculpture “Fallen Flower” which is considered to be his masterpiece is under way. The modification of the museum is also in the pipeline.

The Kumaran Asan National Institute of Culture which was raised from the level of a memorial to a National Institute was founded with the aim to preserve India’s cultural heritage, familiarise the rest of the world with Indian cultural identity, to understand the various streams of culture in the world and to imbibe the favourable aspects of them on the basis of India’s own native culture.

The Institute has already been given recognition as a research center by the University of Kerala. Steps to set up a National Heritage museum have also been started.
